Birouke Teferra
Economist/M&E Specialist, Energy Program, WRI Africa
Birouke Teferra recently joined the Energy team at WRI Africa as an Economist/M&E Specialist. She is an expert on quantitative and qualitative applied and operational research, application of diverse statistical softwares, data quality assessments, data systems management, capacity building and curricula/manual development. She also has extensive experience on evidence-informed programming, programme/project monitoring, evaluation and oversight.
Prior positions include serving as a senior M&E Advisor at the Ministry of Women, Children & Youth-Ethiopia (seconded by Buffet Foundation); a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager at USAID funded projects; Researcher at Ethiopian Development Research Institute; and to the Federal Ministry of Health-Ethiopia (seconded by WHO). Additionally, she has consulted for different organizations including UN agencies, USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Birouke received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics, both from Addis Ababa University. She lives in Addis, with her family. During her spare time, she enjoys reading, volunteering and travelling.
