WRI at UNCCD COP16 – Desertification COP
In December, countries will gather in Saudi Arabia for COP16, the Desertification COP—a critical opportunity to advance global efforts on land restoration and drought resilience. With over 40% of the world’s land degraded and half of humanity directly affected, this conference is essential. Currently, one-quarter of the global population faces extreme water stress year-round, underscoring the urgent need for action. At UNCCD COP16, we’re looking for countries to show measurable progress towards restoring one billion hectares by 2030 and to reach an inclusive agreement on combating drought. Healthy land is key to achieving climate and biodiversity goals.
