Room M4

Africa is witnessing a surge of interest in electric mobility, with tried and tested pilots across the continent. Scaling these initiatives into transformative, continent-wide shifts remains a challenge.

This side event will explore practical and policy pathways to move from fragmented pilots and start-ups to large-scale, inclusive electrification of road transport—particularly two- and three-wheelers, public transit, and freight.

Drawing on case studies from countries that have taken different approaches to electrification, the session will highlight enabling policies, financing models, infrastructure readiness, and cross-sector coordination strategies. This event will convene voices from government, private sector, civil society, and development partners to chart a collective roadmap for sustainable transport transitions that align with Africa’s climate and development goals.
